Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta halfway point

Albuquerque sky filled with nearly 600 balloons taking flight on and off the field.  The Dawn Patrol started the picture-perfect morning as hundreds of balloons followed shortly after on day two of competition.  The balloons not competing lifted and cleared the field and by 8:00 am the field filled with competitive balloons coming in from an exterior point in Albuquerque for competition.

The weather has been co-operating three of the last four days with five more days remaining for balloonists from all parts of the world taking the opportunity to experience the “box” that Albuquerque is noted for.  The competition was very competitive with results that will add points for the final numbers to be added by the end of the week for the winner to be announced.

The first day had fog interrupting the morning launch and to this point the only day that balloons did not launch in a massive number.  The following days were beautiful to allow launching for Mass Ascension and competition.  Day three had a few accidents with wind increase and balloon issues; fortunately, no one was majorly harmed.  Flight of the Nations Mass Ascension, Special Shapes will round off the final upcoming days.
