Fargo Marathon successful with weather challenge

The rain and wind kept going strong during the Fargo Marathon but that did not dampen the goals the runners came out to achieve.  Multi-thousands turned out in full force to cross the finish line for the Full Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K.

Arturs Bareikis won the Men’s Full Marathon by taking the lead around Mile 20 with a time of 2:27.14.  Bareikis is from Midlothian, Illinois and has been in the Fargo Marathon previously taking second place in 2014.  The Women’s Full Marathon winner was Val Curtis, Minot, North Dakota at a pace 2:43.08.  Curtis time qualified for the Olympic Marathon Trials.

Wedding Vows were exchanged before the Marathon began between Bonnie Jules and Edward Broadnax from Florida with over 10,000 Marathon runners witnessing.  Previously they have ran the Fargo Marathon but today they ran their first Marathon as a married couple.
