Seward Johnson Statues – Stamford

Timeless – The Works of Seward Johnson is this year’s Stamford, Connecticut annual Art in Public.  Life-like appearance can easily be taken for a live human being when viewing the American artist’s works.  Seward Johnson statues are bronze sculptures that are reflecting an ordinary life style of the human. A total of 36 statues are in downtown Stamford; “Cat Nap,” a man laying down on a park bench, “Stormy Weather” in front of the public library, “Coming Home” with a soldier embracing his loved one and many more.

“Forever Marilyn” is the largest of the 36 statues throughout Stamford, Connecticut.  The 26-foot statue is the largest of the collection with the rest of the statues depicting life-size.  Marilyn Monroe’s statue has brought out emotions from both sides of the spectrum with direction Monroe is facing with regards to the church.  “The Seven Year Itch,” with the scene from 1955’s has Monroe holding her white dress down as air flares the dress.  The display of statues runs thru August.
