The coldest Thanksgiving Day Parade since 1901 hit New York City this year but that didn’t stop the multi-thousand of spectators from enjoying the parade. Spectators protected themselves from the cold with all types of coverage; from blankets to metallic foil blankets and more. This year was the second coldest in history since 1901.
Thousands lined the route from 72ndstreet to Macy’s. The parade started at 9 a.m. and continued to noon ending at Macy’s. The winds were at the beginning a concern but remained contained so the balloons were inflated and flying in the route. The balloons did not fly as high as some previous years but were in full size and fulfilled the expectations of a successful day. As they came around the corner of Columbus Circle there were a few bursts of wind that contained the balloons a bit lower but everything was maintained with full-filled balloons so to bring the Thanksgiving Parade a great way to kick off the Holiday’s.
2018 Character Balloon was Goku from Dragon Ball. Among some of the performers this year were, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Rita Ora, Pentatonix, Diana Ross with her children and extended families and many more. Novelty Balloons included Americana Spheres (Second Version) Nutcracker, Sunny the Snowpal. The parade started Thanksgiving Day 2018 at 9 a.m. to Noon.
