New York City – The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the largest in the world with over 150,000 participants and two million plus people along the parade route. The year of 2018 marks the 257th parade. The route of the parade was along 5th Ave from 44th Street to 79th Street. His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan stood in front of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral greeting and blessing participants on the parade route. Bag pipes, dancers, bands and loads of green filled the NYC streets.
Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar joined the parade route. Loretta Brennan Glucksman was the grand marshal. Dignitaries included New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio, police Commissioner James O’Neill and many more. NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce blew the whistle to kick off the parade is retiring this year.
