Across the United States and many other countries Santa Claus celebrates a tradition in Christmas Parades that began in the 1880’s in the United States. The parades have a variety of themed floats representing cities, organizations, businesses. Along the route dancers, bands are mixed in with the floats as the parade goes down a main street area of a community. Santa Claus usually is on the last float signifying the beginning of the Holiday.
The 18th annual Xcel Energy Holiday Lights Parade started in Moorhead, Minnesota and headed to Fargo, North Dakota down Broadway December 7th. Large crowds of people; families and children lined the road watching the parade as decorated vehicles and floats passed through. The Grand Marshals of the parade for 2024 was the Fargo Police Department Heroes last July 2024; parents of the late Officer Jake Wallin, Officer Tyler Hawes, Officer Andrew Dotas and Sergeant Zac Robinson.
