New York City – SAG-AFTRA, the American actors’ union went on strike July 14, 2023 and still remains on strike. A strike demonstration was in full swing off to the side of the Rockefeller Center Plaza. The strike was running a few blocks with large participation. At this time there is still no indication that the strike will end. Talks have been at a standstill for two weeks.
SAG-AFTRA actors’ union will be asking members to expand the strike to include video game production companies. SAF-AFTRA is asking 11% retroactive wage increase plus 4% increase in second-third years of contracts.
SAG-AFTRA is asking for protection from against the use of AI for voice and performance capture. Wage increases remain in the negotiations and working conditions.
