Fargo, ND – Scheels Arena in Fargo was filled with thousands of people to honor fallen Fargo Police Officer Jake R. Wallin as a hero. Jake Wallin, 23, was killed in the line of duty. Scheels Arena was filled by uniformed law enforcement officers, deputies, troopers, firefighters, first responders and general public.
Wallin’s father and mother, Jeff and Amy Wallin spoke about special memories of their son prior to serving his country and as a police officer. Many family members and friends were seated toward the front of the procession. Jake Wallin’s fiancée Winter Malone and ‘Thor’ the couple’s dog and Brady; Jake’s brother were seated in front with the family. Slamabama performed John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
Governor Doug Burgum, Attorney General Drew Wrigley, Mayor Tim Mahoney and other dignitaries gave speeches at the celebration. Burial took place last weekend with a procession from Fargo to Pequot Lakes, Minnesota; the hometown of the fallen officer Jake R. Wallin. The streets were lined with people from Fargo to the final resting.
