NYPD k-9’s

New York – Columbus Circle monitored not only by the NYPD but also by K-9 during special celebrations as well as daily activities.  The uniqueness of such highly trained dogs allowed their ability to show of friendliness and warmth when approached by a young child. There is a definite smile by spectators when the dogs walk by during the festive events during the holiday parades.

The K-9 are so technically trained to alert their ‘master’ officer of drugs, explosives and many other negative issues that could impact the celebration such as Thanksgiving and other holiday festivities. It is not unusual to have a K-9 sit in van for hours at time with their officer and follow commands technically given to them by their officer.  The combination of NYPD and the K-9 units have been involved in protecting Columbus Circle during past years regarding protests.
