Thousands lined Broadway in Fargo, North Dakota as the Great Race vintage car rally completed the bucket list by crossing into the last of the contiguous state – North Dakota. Fargo was the finish line of the 2,300 miles race that started in Warwick, Rhode Island. Detroit Lakes, Minnesota the evening before hosted the Great Race competitors.
Josh Hull and Trevor Stahl, Roanoke, VA took first place of the 2022 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty Drivers Club taking home $50,000 prize.
Chris Brungardt and Jerome “Jay” Reinan being a local driver and navigator had the prestigious honor of being the first car to cross the finish line on Broadway. Brungardt and Reinan drove a 1918 American LaFrance grew up in Wahpeton, North Dakota and Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
The 39th annual Great Race had 120 cars cross the finish line (started with 132 classic vehicles) that consisted of daily detailed instructions that made the finalists being only within seconds for the final tally to win. Every detail affected the tally to win since this was not a race of speed. All aspects were taken into consideration to achieve the lowest score being the final goal; time, speed, distance
