Two NYPD Officers being remembered for their service

Thousands of police officers from across the country lined Fifth Avenue in Manhattan on Friday for the first of two funerals; Detective Jason Rivera was held Friday and Police Officer Wilbert Mora will be on Wednesday February 2nd.  Both masses being presided over by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Officer Wilbert Mora was only 27 and was placed on life support so five of his organs could be donated; he died Tuesday.  One of the organ’s went to a relative.  Mora had joined the NYPD department in 2018 and was single.  Funeral to be held Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Detective Jason Rivera and Officer Wilbert Mora responded to a domestic disturbance call and were ambushed by Lashawn McNeil, a criminal with a history. McNeil was shot at the scene by a third officer, Sumit Sulan.  McNeil was wounded and later died.
